Enjoy a lovely informal few hours, on a morning or afternoon bespoke course exploring the fascinating alchemy of natural dyeing, felting, sketching, any form of stitch embroidery or anything you think I can help with in a beautiful part of the Welsh countryside. The Textile Farm is nestled within the Brechfa Forest, a perfect location for a short break or holiday away from it all. Offering 3 acres of land to work from, it is the perfect place to understand the concept from field to coloured fibre, yarn or cloth.
As an example of a course in natural dyeing - Understand the processes involved with hands on experience, full notes will be given to take away too. Explore the role of natural mordants, create your own dyebaths from plants, dried and fresh and plant extracts. Visually see the magic happen when applying heat, manipulating the ph and using other modifiers such as iron baths. Create your own unique colour palettes on a variety of fibres. All subject to your own interests and time.
This an exciting oppportunity to go on a journey of exploration, experimentation and discovery in a small friendly relaxed group of your choosing. There will be plenty of time to engage with the farm, learning about the cultivation of the plants and getting to know the individual animals.
The workshop runs for your convenience by mutual arrangement averaging between 3-4 hours. Refreshments will be available throughout the day with all materials and equipment included. No previous experience is necessary.
The total cost per person is £60 per person which includes a 50% non refundable deposit
