Enjoy a 4 day intensive course exploring the fascinating alchemy of natural dyeing in a beautiful part of the Welsh countryside. The Textile Farm is nestled within the Brechfa Forest, a perfect location for a short break or holiday away from it all. Offering 3 acres of land to work from, it is the perfect place to understand the concept from field to coloured fibre, yarn or cloth.
Explore a variety of natural mordants and their effect on producing variations within subtle colours and hues from a single dyebath. Create your own dyebaths from plants in several ways. Learn how to manuipulate colours using heat, ph and other modifiers such as iron baths. Create your own unique colour palettes on a variety of fibres.
This an exciting oppportunity to go on a journey of exploration, experimentation and discovery in a small friendly relaxed group. There will be plenty of time to engage with the farm, learning about the cultivation of the plants and getting to know the individual animals.
The course will be held daily 10 - 4pm with a home prepared lunch included. Refreshments will be offered throughout the day, with all materials and equipment included. No previous experience is necessary.
